Indoor fun
Tirsdag, 31. januar 2012 16:09

We had a great event with all the youngsters from the windsurfing club. We brought plenty of SUP- and windsurf equipment and made different exercises from de-rigging in the water to SUP-races.

We also brought half booms which were used for visualizing the frontloop. We stood on a mount and made a forward loop into the water while holding on to the boom. Personally I think visualizing is a very important part of the training and I am sure that many of the kids feel ready to try the frontloop next time they hit the water.

Freezing cold in Denmark – time for preparations for the season
Onsdag, 25. januar 2012 18:51

I am right now sitting in front of my window at home and enjoying the view. It is so cold outside that I can actually feel the window cooling the air in front of me. Also the fjord is now frozen, but there are still places to go windsurfing. One good thing is that at least the ocean will never freeze, so I can always get in the water if I go up there. Especially SUP is good during the winter as I can avoid the strong wind-chill-factor that is generated while windsurfing.

Based on the above, I guess you have a feeling that I do not quite get as many hours in the water as I should, which definitely is true. Instead, I make sure to do things I usually do not have time for during the season. I spend a lot of time on physical training in gym and running (still outside).

Besides that I just went to Copenhagen in order to find out what is wrong with my right shoulder. I have to mention that I do not have so much pain in my shoulder anymore but still I cannot push myself the last margin that I need. It is now 1 year and 2 months since I got the injury and I have been through several physiotherapists and other clever people without luck, so I really hope to find a solution this time.

In Copenhagen I caught up with Team Denmark’s physiotherapist. He tested me in different ways and kept telling me I had very strong and stable muscles that protected my joints well. In the end he had to admit that he could not tell exactly what kind of injury I had. He referred me to another shoulder specialist who should be the best in Denmark. I am now waiting to visit this guy who hopefully finds a solution on my shoulder.

New sponsorship with Quiksilver International
Mandag, 23. januar 2012 21:03

I am happy and proud to say that from 2012, I am sponsored directly from  Quiksilver International in France!

Quiksilver Denmark has been my sponsor for 3 years, and I am very thankful to Tim and Kristijan, who have been supporting me so well over the time.

For me, Quiksilver is not only the coolest clothing, it is also a brand that I am proud to represent, and a brand that fits my lifestyle and my identity. It has also become part of my image – and I guess many people expect to see me wearing the red logo. It was there when I won the Junior World title in 2008, and also when I won the Youth World title in 2011.

Together with any sponsorship follows a certain responsibility, and for me it is not only a matter of exposing the sponsor through results and activities. There is also a responsibility in being a good and positive role model for younger kids, and since it is not so many years ago that I was a kid myself, I know exactly what they are thinking and what they are looking for.

I guess the best I can do is just being myself and keep working seriously with my sport. Avoid stupid things in life and inspire youngsters to work hard for their sport – and their school!

I love to be able to pick that particular Quiksilver T-shirt in the morning that fits my mood and makes my day. And the pair of jeans and a sweater that makes me feel confident in the evening.

Man, it’s a privilege! :)

Happy New Year from La Santa and Norway
Onsdag, 04. januar 2012 13:54

Happy New Year to all of you!

I started out my Christmas holiday on Lanzarote together with my family to visit my sister. Had for sure brought some SUP and surfboards.

We had a 10-day stay in Club La Santa which made me able to keep fit with all kinds of different sports and physical training. Besides that I went surfing almost every day.

And some more pics from the surf spot "Famara"

During my stay in Lanzarote, a good friend of mine called me and asked if I wanted to join him on a trip to Hovden in Norway for snowboarding. The forecast in Norway said plenty of snow, so I could not say no!

After Lanzarote I only had three hours of sleep at home before my friend picked me up, and we were off to Norway. I had not been snowboarding for 4 years, but as soon as I stood on the top of the mountain, everything felt comfortable already.

We had fresh powder 5 days in a raw, which felt like unreal. I will post some video of it later! :-)
